I came across the suggestion that "vedana" is translated as sensation and feelings..
( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vedan%C4%81 )
and It got me thinking of how in the west, we got this notion of emotions that are part conceptual and part sensation.. or feelings with some conceptual evaluation can designate different emotions..
For example a sensation of anxiety can be designated as fear, where the same anxiety sensation can be designated as romante.. all depending on the mental/conceptual interpretion of the context in which the sensations are felt.
Do you know of a Buddhist book that touch upon such details of emotions-feelings-sensations?
Thanks..

Re: sensations-feelings-emotions
Wed, October 28, 2009 - 3:27 PMThere are several great teachers that come to mind. Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Pema Chodron, and Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche all include the emotional and sensational elements in their writing. His Holiness the Dalai Lama also has several dealing with emotions.

Sun, November 1, 2009 - 2:19 AMthanks Ngakpa,
Do you have a particular book in mind? I've read mind training by Trungpa, and several ones of Pema, like no time to loose and when things fall apart but that was a while ago when i was not focused on emotions.. perhaps Pema dwell on it there..
thanks.. -
