PRANA

I can see prana in the air but only in the blue sky part, if there is a tree or something blocking sky they don't appear in that line of sight. They look as if close right in face but if I put hand far in front of vision they don't appear in that line of sight. Is this just my bad eyes playing tricks or is it because the sun is blocked? Why are they sqiggly and moving, appearing and dissappearing, with a bright point of light like a fiber-optic going down length of squiggly?

The squiggles and bright points are given the nick-name "floaters". There is also a phenomena in which objects that one stares at for a while (especially on a very bright day) will seem to have a small but noticeable outline around them (especially when the sky is the backdrop). I believe this is caused by after lingering after-images (that appear because nobodies vision is 100% fixed and tends to move a little). Many people call this outline an "aura".

The squiggles and bright points are related to (but not identical with) the thigles and strings seen in Togal and other visionary practices.

I don't think that these are directly related to the perception of prana, which for me is not a visual phenomena but rather more an internal vaguely kinesthetic set of perceptions.

I agree with Ryan-- these phenomena have a physiological
basis and if extreme can suggest an optical disease.
For example, I see a fogginess around objects in bright light--
but I also know that there's a slow cataract in one eye
causing this scattering of light. Nothing extraordinary about that.

However, I have been able to see a very light gray cloud around
people for decades. I mentioned this to a Qi Gong master
in a class with many experienced Qi Gong practitioners
who were training in a college of Chinese Medicine. Many
said they had the same experience. He said that this is not
Qi that, rather it is heat being seen by expanded perception.
So, Prana or Qi has a slight color to it that is distinctive and
visible to highly experienced meditators. Then, the question
becomes which Prana am I perceiving? It becomes very
complicated, very quickly-- lots of room for self deception.

Tigles that Ryan mentions typically appear in a dark retreat
when one practices Thogal. It is a practice one usually doesn't
enter until one has had solid experience in Threkcho, as
recommended and guided by a qualified Dzogchen Lama.
Typically, this would be one's last practice-- after Ngondro,
after Yidam, after Rushen, after Threkcho. That said, sometimes
the sequence of practice varries according to the Lama, the
student, and the tradition in question.

Thanks for all the info guys! I have seen auras from a complicated visual instruction from a nice hippy lady. But I forgot how she instructed to train the eyes. But for the day I could see complicated curly Q bubbly cursive colored thin lines looking like the stuff I thought was prana but maybe I will just call it orgone since you guys think otherwise. It was on people and objects! I was sober too by the way. Thanks Ryan and Mark.
