The following is advice of H. H. Namhka Drimed Rinpoche
mainly on receiving Dzogchen, but It applies to Tantra too:

The core quality a student must have is unwavering faith, devotion
and trust in the Lama. One should be without any doubt in the Lama.
One should know that the Lama is always working for their benefit and
that whatever the Lama tells the student is best for the student.

One should feel as if this Lama is their root Lama in this lifetime and in
all other lifetimes to come. The proper view that one must have is that the
Lama is equal and the exact same as the Buddha. Even though the Buddha
had unfathomable kindness and compassion, he is not here today to give
these teachings to us. Therefore, in a way the Lama has more kindness and
compassion, as it is through the Lama that we are able to receive these
teachings that will swiftly bring us to enlightenment, so the Lama is equal to
that of the Buddha.

While there are many kinds of teachers that one has along the path, and one
may receive many teachings and empowerments from many different teachers;
it is only through one’s Root Lama that one can and is actually introduced to the
essence of one’s own mind (DzogChen). The Root Lama is the one who is able
to give us the proper view to look into our own mind. This proper view into our
own mind is what allows us to reach enlightenment.

In order to achieve this view of DzogChen, it is necessary for the student to have
many pure qualities. These pure qualities can be and are developed through
the practice of Ngordro, that is why it is of particular important for one to have
completed Ngordro prior to receiving any of the higher teachings. In order for a
student to truly receive the highest teaching Dzochen, one must have ALL
of the following qualities:

1. A student should never have any doubts about the teacher or the teachings.

2. A student should always trust the teacher and what the teacher has said is
for the benefit of the student. No matter what the teacher has said, whether it is
something that the student wants to hear or not, the student should have faith in
what the teacher is saying and take to heart what has been said.

3. The student should have devotion to the Teacher and Teachings
without any conditions.

4. The student must see the teacher as their ultimate Root Lama in
this lifetime and all other lifetimes.

5. The student should be motivated not just for the benefit of oneself
but for the benefit of all sentient beings. The student should be receiving
the teachings with aspirations that all beings are able to benefit from
these teachings.

6. The student should have great regards for the laws of causes and
effects, karma, and understand the relations between cause and effect.

7. The student should be someone who understands the meaning of
impermanence and is aware of the impermanence in their life.

8. The student should contemplate the meaning of karma and
impermanence at all times and be aware of the influences of karma
and impermanence at all times.

9. The students mind should be totally dedicated to the dharma.

10. The student should have very little attachment to samsara.

11. The student should have great diligence in studying the dharma.

12. The student should have great compassion towards all sentient beings.

13. The student should be very kind and have a caring mind.

14. The student should also have a sharp mind, that has wisdom,
but not sharp in the sense as to over think about things.

15. The student should have great regard to uphold their samaya
(or practice commitments)

16. The student should be someone who does not speak a lot,
is reserve in speech, and does not distort what others say.

17. The student should not be caught up in the distraction of the
world and should be focused on the dharma.

18. The student should want to practice the dharma.

19. The student should be someone who can control non-virtuous
actions and know that such actions are poison.

20. The student should be someone who has a spacious and
courageous mind as it is a prerequisite to receiving the highest
teachings.

21. The student should be someone who ultimately understands
that the whole purpose of life and the dharma is to achieve enlightenment.

If someone has all of these qualities, then they are a perfect and qualified
vessel to receive the highest teachings DzogChen. In conclusion, in order
to truly receive the DzogChen teaching the student must have complete
faith and trust in the teacher.

His Eminence Namkhai Drimed Rabjam is a very great teacher.
He is a truly generous teacher.
He's also one of the main tantric teachers of the Shambhala organization in the US.

HENDR has completed a US wide tour, apparently giving a lot of empowerments.
I have seen him repeatedly where I live. He can give five big zaps on a weekend.

If you have his Yeshe Tsogyel empowerment, you can get the practice text.
It is available to those qualified at www.tibetantreasures.com
It is a most excellent sadhana.

As for the Gesar practice texts and so forth, some translations should still be available. These are specific to HENDR, and do not work with Mipham transmissions or texts for Gesar ( which I also have )

As far as I know, no one mentioned HENDR tour on this or other tribes any time this year. Perhaps the Shambhala community transmissions were mostly closed to non-Shambhala people. That was not true where I live, where HENDR was co-hosted via both Chagdud Gonpa and the local Shambhala group several years back and the turnout was three times the size of the local Shambhala group.

When offering transmissions, it is much more powerful and much easier to share the effort and benefits.
